Stop At: Orang Utan Island, Jalan Bukit Merah, Semanggol 34400 Malaysia

This island is being setup to let visitors experienced first-hand awareness and education on orangutan, to a recognized
ex-situ conservation facility and referral center for the endangered Bornean orangutan. Orang Utan Island is geared to serve as a temporary holding facility for those orangutans rescued from illegal possession and or trade before being returned to their natural habitat, with mechanisms in place to treat, care and rehabilitate those orangutans assessed unfit for immediate return to the wild.
We drive over to mainland Peninsular Malaysia using South East Asia’s longest bridge, some 24 km long, to visit the 35 acres Orangutan Sanctuary Island on mainland Peninsular Malaysia. See Orangutan up close and personal. Once we arrive at the edge of a man-made lake, take a 10 minutes boat ride over to the man-made island. On this Orangutan island, we, the human, are being enclosed, not the orangutan. The male alpha Orangutan, can weigh up to 300 kilogram and can have the strength up to 7 adult humans! There are up to 17 Orangutan staying here and get to know some of them – BJ, Adam, Hiroshi, Manu etc. Every Orangutan have their own personality and they shared some 97% of us human DNA too! They use tools and no wonder they are fun to watch.

One of the few places where you can get up close to a bunch of venomous snakes and live to tell the tale. See live Pit Viper snakes coiled up at temple. Beware – they are poisonous! Learn how the snakes come to this temple and count the snakes in the backyard as they play hide and seek!.

Busy, scenic destination featuring a traditional village of rustic houses on stilts over the water. Stroll on the plank walkway to see locals go about their daily life on the jetty, take nice pictures of harbor view, iconic Penang Ferry and Penang Bridge and buy a trinket or two.

Stop At: Pinang Peranakan Mansion, 29 Church Street, George Town, Penang Island 10200 Malaysia

See the former house built by a Chinese Captain, Kapitan Chung Keng Kwee, called the Pinang Peranakan Mansion. This elite house full of antiques and collectibles from east and west, featured many recollection memories when the Chinese immigrants inter-marriage with the locals and created a fusion of east meets locals, hence a new tradition was borne. It is also a popular shooting location of choice for Malaysian, Singaporean and Chinese movies.

The Khoo Kongsi is a large Chinese clan-house with elaborate and highly ornamented architecture, a mark of the dominant presence of the Chinese in Penang, Hidden in an enclave, the magnificent family house became a get together for festivals.

Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic is leaving his mark with beautiful wall painting of children all across historical Georgetown. The artworks are funny, fascinating, and very much open to everyone’s interpretations. See magical street arts created by Ernest like “Children on Bicycle”, “Boy on Motorcycle”, “Dinosaur” and “Climbing Wall”.

Stop At: Reclining Buddha Wat Chaiyamangalaram, 17, Lorong Burma, George Town, Penang Island Malaysia

Wat Chaiyamangkalaram is a Thai Buddhist temple that contains one of the world’s longest reclining Buddha statues, as well as several coloured statues of Dragon (nagas) and other mythical creatures. See the beautiful and serene world 3rd longest reclining Buddha. Walk around the statue for more trivias like “Weekdays” Buddha, 12 Chinese animals zodiac Buddhas, and pay homage to the “Future Buddha” (Matreya).

Stop At: Dharmikarama Burmese Temple, 24 Lorong Burmah, George Town, Penang Island Malaysia

Dhammikarama Burmese Temple, built in 1803, is the sole and oldest Burmese Buddhist temple in Penang. The temple is situated directly across Thai Temple Wat Chaiyamangkalaram. See the great marbled Standing Buddha. Walk around it to see what are the Buddhist nations. At the back of the temple, count the number of animal’s parts that make up the magical animal called Panca Rupa. Throw a few coins for good luck at the “Wheel of Life” fountain.

Stop At: Penang Botanical Gardens, Jalan Air Terjun, George Town, Penang Island Malaysia

Penang Botanic Gardens are the Pride of Penang. This beautifully manicured lush 50 hectare park of tropical forest, also known as Waterfall Gardens. Penang Botanical Garden has been a feature of George Town life since it was established way back in 1884. One advantage that Penang Botanical Garden has over the others is its wonderful setting with Penang Hill as a backdrop and a cascading stream running through it to provide some welcome cooling breezes. Here see cannonball trees, agar wood, poisonous Ipoh tree, mahogany and long tail macaque monkeys.
