An outstanding experience, an astonishing story !
I will take you along 12 generations (more than 400 years!) of my family to personalize the Jewish history of Amsterdam.
From the 17th century till today, I connect all aspects of Jewish life in Mokum
( = Jiddisch for Amsterdam) in to the Waterman’s & Casseres families and their descendants.

I will let you experience:
* Jewish live in Amsterdam before the war, when my gramdmother became famous with her free chicken soep, on shabbat, in her cigar store.
* The hiding under the store floor during “razzia’s” and all neighbors were send to the camps, 
* The SS soldier who warned my grandfather, followed by the hiding under a roof for over more than 3 years
* pass by important historical sites of Jewish Amsterdam, such as: Portuguese es noga, Hollandse schouwburg, Jewish historical museum & holocaust memorial site

Stop At: Former Town Hall of Nieuwer-Amstel, Amsteldijk 67, 1074 HZ Amsterdam The Netherlands

We will see here misc. monuments and I will start telling you a part of the history of the Jewish population in Amsterdam.
By the way…….. the town hall is build on my late uncles house……..

We continue telling you about the history and showing you misc. townhouses of former Jewish families, before WW II

Stop At: Nieuwmarkt, Amsterdam The Netherlands

We (optionally) visit the Waag, build in the 15th century.
Around this building was one of the former Jewish Markets, as this neighborhood was before the WW II typically Jewish.
I will show you the house of my great grandfather and will tell you many stories about Jewish live, before the war.

Stop At: Zeedijk, Oudezijds Kolk to Nieuwmarkt, Amsterdam The Netherlands

We will visit a very famous cafe in the Red light district, where Jews were hiding during WW II

We walk true this former Jewish Textile mainstream and I will tell you more story’s

Stop At: Huis De Pinto, Sint Antoniebreestraat 69, 1011 HB Amsterdam The Netherlands

We pass the house of this famous Sefardic Banker and I will tell you all about him

Stop At: Museum Het Rembrandthuis (Rembrandt House), Jodenbreestraat 4, 1011 NK Amsterdam The Netherlands

We stop at the Rembrandt huis, where this painter have lived and worked in the 17th century, in the middle of the Jewish centre of Amsterdam and will see some of his Jewish work. ( a visit is optional in the museum it self)

We see what is left of this famous Jewish Market and I will show you the places where my grandfather sold his cigars and my uncle lived.

Stop At: Joods Historisch Museum, Nieuwe Amstelstraat 1, 1011 PL Amsterdam The Netherlands

We stop at the “new synagoge” as it was called before the WW II.
It was the main temple for Ashkenazy Jewish people and I will tell you some stories about it. Inside (audio tour) is optional, witch you could do, after the tour.

Stop At: Jonas Daniël Meijerplein, 1018 DP Amsterdam, Netherlands

I will show you “De dokwerker” monument, wich is a tribute to the (dock) workers, who stood up, with fear for own live, against the occupiers in that cold February morning in 1942, scandaling: ” keep your hands of our thirty Jews!”

Stop At: Portuguese Synagogue, Mr. Visserplein 3, 1011 RD Amsterdam The Netherlands

We walk around the Esnoga and I will tell you all about it and where my great grandfather had his own seat. After our tour you could visit the esnoga, as it is called, by your self (audio tour)

We pass this famous 17th century garden and I will tell you all about it
You can visit the Hortus, optional after my tour

Stop At: Auschwitz Monument, Wertheimpark, 1018 Amsterdam The Netherlands

We visit this Memorial, in a small old park, for a little while …….

Stop At: Hollandsche Schouwburg, Plantage Middenlaan 24, 1018 DE Amsterdam The Netherlands

From this former Jewish teater, the WW II deportations of over 100.000 Jews begon. I will tell you more about it……….

Stop At: ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo, Plantage Kerklaan 38-40, 1018 CZ Amsterdam The Netherlands

During the war, some Jewish people were hiding in the zoo.
I tell you more about it.
You could visit the zoo, optionally, after the tour.
