On this full-day 12-hour tour you’ll experience the unique alpine landscapes of the Southern Alps as you travel with us from Queenstown through Mackenzie Country and into Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, home to snow-capped mountains, impressive glaciers and New Zealand’s highest peak, Aoraki Mt Cook (‘Cloud Piercer’).

Upon arrival, enjoy approx 3.5 hours in Mt Cook Village to explore some of the incredible walks and activities available (at your own expense), or extend your stay and opt for an overnight stay at the Hermitage Hotel.

Altitude Mt Cook tours are limited to a maximum of 16 passengers, ensuring small groups so everyone can enjoy the best New Zealand hospitality that we have to offer as well as enjoying lots of fun and informative commentary from your local guide and plenty of off-the-beaten-track visits away from the crowds.

What to Expect When Visiting Queenstown, Otago, New Zealand

Stop At: Cromwell, Cromwell, Central Otago, Otago Region, South Island

Our first stop is Cromwell, ‘Fruit Bowl of the South’ and its large fruit sculptures.

Stop At: Lindis Pass, Omarama New Zealand

En route to Mount Cook we will travel through the dramatic Lindis Pass which links the Mackenzie Basin with Central Otago.

Stop At: Omarama, Omarama, Canterbury Region, South Island

After a brief stop in the quaint village of Omarama to get a snack or food to take away for lunch in Mt Cook, we’ll make our way along Lake Pukaki’s bright turquoise waters before entering Aoraki Mount Cook National Park.

Stop At: Lake Pukaki, New Zealand

Before entering Mount Cook Village, we will take stop alongside the shores of Lake Pukaki, the largest lake in the area, and it proudly shows off New Zealand’s tallest peak, Aoraki/ Mount Cook.

Stop At: Mt. Cook Village, Mt. Cook Village, Aoraki Mount Cook National Park (Te Wahipounamu), Mackenzie District, Canterbury Region, South Island

On arrival, take a walk to Lake Mueller for a close-up view of Mt Sefton’s glaciers or take the chance to experience one of the incredible activities Mt Cook has to offer.

Stop At: High Country Salmon, State Highway 8, Twizel 7944 New Zealand

We’ll then return to Queenstown stopping at High Country Salmon Farm in Twizel for fish feeding (if time allows) and a brief stop in Omarama to get afternoon tea or refreshments.
