The modern building of the Polish Museum of Aviation in Cracow is located at the former Rakowice-Czyżyny airport, one of the oldest permanent airports in Europe.

In this once stood one of the stop on the first in Europe regular Post Airline between Wien and Kiev. With a rich collections of aircrafts, helicopters, gliders, engines Polish Museum of Aviation is well known in Europe. The collection of the museum contains over 300 positions with some of the most unique exhibits in the world, like for example hulls of the German combat aircraft from World War I Halberstadt Cl.II or Roland D.IV. You can find here the only remaining one Russian flying boat Grigorowicz M-15 from 1916. Collections is extended for open air museum where the most known machines from Soviet time are presented like for example Antonov AN- 26 or Polish PZL 130 Orlik.
