In this tour of the Jewish heritage in Porto, we propose to visit several places such as Judiaria Velha, which was on the upper part of the Sé hill. another extra-Jewish wall. Because of the wars with Castile, King D. João I interceded with the city council to allow the installation of a new Judiciary within the walls. which forced Jews to convert to Christianity (new Christians). Very close to the old synagogue there was a new secret synagogue where some Jews continued their worship. Even today we can admire the “Aron Kodesh” of this secret synagogue oriented towards Jerusalem. In the final part of the tour, you will be dedicated to visit the largest Iberian synagogue opened in 1938 by Captain Barros Basto. Time to visit the Jewish Museum of Porto. Shalom
