Arriving at a rural road only passable by super trucks you will experience a super truck ride to the roots of Kotlujokull glacier.
Now it is time to put on crampons and walk towards the ice cave. Prepare to step foot in a movie-like scene as you admire the epic blue colors and unique layers of the glacier. You will see how the glacier opens up between blue and black ice walls providing you with a stunning entrance to the ice cave of Katla. Your certified glacier guide will provide you with expert information about the ice cave before you leave the cave and head back to Reykjavik where your tour concludes. Please make sure to bring it with you on the tour and present it to your guide when he comes to pick you up for your ice cave adventure.
Pick up starts at either 8:00am or 9:00am depending on your booking (please see ticket). Please note that you have to be ready for pick up at your assigned pick up point at the specified time in order to not miss the tour. Upon arrival to your pick up point remember to keep a look out for your guide and note that it can take your guide up to 30 min. to arrive.
Please note that you are responsible to inform the operator (info@adventures.is) where you would like to be picked up for your tour at least 48 hours prior to your tour departure. It is very important to be properly dressed for this tour with layers for staying warm. Bring with you waterproof clothing, hat, gloves and good hiking shoes.
The tour duration is approx. 11 hours. We highly recommend checking your email the evening prior to your tour just to double check that everything is still running as scheduled. If the tour happens to get canceled due to unfavourable conditions then a cancellation email will be sent out provided we have your contact details on file.
