Kempton Park Trip Overview

On this safari tour, you will be observing the Big 5 (lion, leopard, Cape Buffalo, rhino and elephant) as well as a host of antelope, birdlife and amphibians, and be inspired by an authentically African atmosphere in the largest game reserve in South Africa. Kruger National Park is larger than some small countries in Europe and is just less than two million hectares of conservation area.
Add to this a full day tour of the Panorama Route which includes, amongst others, the Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Lisbon and Berlin Falls. Perfection!
On this Safari, you will enjoy comfortable accommodation in a private lodge, awesome game drives and beautiful scenery. Because of the well-trained guides, we are proud to offer an 80% Big 5 success rate on our game drives. All guides are FGASA (Field Guides Association of SA) registered.

Itinerary
Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park & Afternoon Game Drive
Stop At: Kruger National Park, Malalan Gate, Nelspruit 1350 South Africa
This safari departs daily from Johannesburg OR Tambo airport. You need to be at the OR Tambo bus terminal by 06:30AM. The shuttle departs no later than 07:00AM.
There will be two comfort stops along the way. You will also be able to buy snacks and refreshments and visit restrooms during these comfort stops. There will be a brief change-over of vehicles at Nelspruit, where you will travel in a smaller vehicle to the lodge about one hour away.
After check-in you will have time relax and freshen up before boarding an open sided 4×4 game drive vehicle for an afternoon game drive in Kruger National Park, starting at 15h30. The lodge is about 15 – 20 minutes’ drive from the Phabeni Kruger Gate.
After your safari game drive, you return to the lodge where you can unwind and relax before dinner served at 19:00PM in the restaurant area.

Day 2: Kruger National Park
Stop At: Kruger National Park, Malalan Gate, Nelspruit 1350 South Africa
This morning you will enjoy coffee/tea and rusks before departing on a full day of game viewing in the Kruger National Park (Skukuza area). A packed breakfast is included. Game drives are in small groups in specially modified open sided land cruisers.
The Skukuza area is rich in wildlife and the elevated height of the 4×4 open-sided vehicle makes for excellent viewing and photographic opportunities. You’ll enjoy lunch at one of the park’s restaurants. (own account). After lunch, we start the afternoon game drive in the Kruger National Park.
During these game drives, you’ll see a wide variety of wildlife and have plenty of photographic opportunities. After our tour, we’ll make our way to back to our lodge or camp.

Day 3: Panorama Route
Stop At: Panorama Route, R532 Blyde River Canyon, Graskop 1270 South Africa
Today you will go on a tour of the Panorama Route. You depart on this 8-hour scenic excursion just after a scrumptious full course breakfast. Scenic stops along the Panorama Route include:
– God’s Window
– The Pinnacle
– Bourke’s Luck Potholes
– Blyde River Canyon
– Wonderview
– Three Rondawels
– Graskop & Pilgrim’s Rest
At least 1 of the following waterfalls: Lisbon Falls, Mac-Mac Falls, Lone Creek Falls. (Depends on the time of year and rainfall)
Lunch at Harries pancakes at own cost.
You return to camp around 4 pm.

Day 4: Last day: Return to Johannesburg (Optional Morning Game Drive)

This morning you have a choice between another morning game drive or relaxing at the lodge and enjoying the great facilities it offers.
Should you choose to stay at the lodge, you can enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast at the restaurant. If you join us on the morning safari, a picnic-style breakfast will be served at one of the picnic spots in the park.
The morning game drive is entirely optional and for own account (paid at the lodge). It is a great way to spend your last morning on tour if you feel the need to see wild animals one last time.

You will be picked up at the lodge (from reception) at about 11h00 for your return to Johannesburg with the shuttle.
Drop off at Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport will be around 17:30PM. Please do not book a flight for earlier than 19:30PM to allow enough time for airport procedures.
