A gritty city not a pretty city that started off as a rough gold mining camp in 1886. Experience the struggle to reclaim the city and turn it around. See the different styles of architecture from different decades side by side from Victorian to Edwardian Baroque to Italiante to Brutalist! From there we take a drive through Soweto, the largest and most important African township in South Africa. Set up as a migrant labour camp in the early 1900’s it is now called home by 4 -5 million African people. Colourful, bustling and hustling is what its all about.
