Take a 40 minute ferry trip to this world renowned heritage site. The first part of the tour sees you get a bus trip around the island. The trip takes you around to places like Robert Sobukwe’s former prison House. It also takes you to the blue Quarry where the political ex-prisoners used to labor as part of their imprisonment.

Take a short 30 minute break which allows you to walk about as you stretch and grab a cup of coffee. Take amazing photos of the city of Cape Town and the iconic Table Mountain from this island.

Proceed on your emotional tour as you visit the cell where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in jail. This is the climax of the tour as you are allowed to take photos of the cell up close. A visit to other cells is also enlightening, informative and very historical.

Talk to the community and get a feel of how they perceive the current government against their socio-economic aspirations. Look out for the local kids playing in the streets and how welcoming they are each time they see travelers visiting their area.

Visit a local African beer brewing facility and see how the locals spend their time. If you so wish, take a taste of the local opaque beer which is low on alcohol content.

Take a walk past this Police Station which serves the local communities. Take a walk in the oldest hostels which were build to accommodate male migrant workers from the Eastern Cape.

There are stalls of art and craft also which is meant to support the local communities. Explore the vibrant township street full of life and exposes you to the spirit of entrepreneuriship.

There is also a local creche where kids attend pre-school. A visit to this place show how much ill-equipped the township educational facilities are. But the kids do not bother about many things as they carry on business as usual.
