When you’ve finished your walking tour of the Bo-Kaap, we’ll head over to the Castle of Good Hope. Built between 1666 and 1679, the Castle is known as the oldest surviving building in South Africa and has been the centre of civilian, political and military life at the Cape from approximately 1679.
In its current state, the Castle arguably represents one of the best preserved 17th century DEIC architecture on the entire globe. The 2015 – 2016 renovation of the Castle – the first in 20 years – will further enhance its appeal and position it well to become South Africa’s next UNESCO World Heritage Site. We then visit the site where Nelson Mandela did his first speech as a free man!

Stop At: Long Street Baths, Long Street, Cape Town Central 8001 South Africa
After this awe-inspiring experience, we head off to some of Cape Town’s most well-known streets.
We start at Long Street. Long Street could be described as the funkiest and loudest street in Cape Town, bustling with markets and boerewors roll stands during the day and hosting parties of all kinds once the sun sets.
Once the vintage clothing shops and designers’ alleys are closed, attention is turned to the plethora of bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs lining this iconic road. This road is always busy but in the summertime locals and foreigners explore out onto the pavements at side walk cafes, sip cocktails beneath umbrellas and party on the rooftops.
Places like Kennedys, Long Street Café and Mr. Pickwick’s have firmly made their mark and still attract loyal customers. Newer restaurants such as Galbi, a Korean BBQ spot gather new followers in search of different tastes whilst Royale is still said to produce the best gourmet burgers in the Western Cape.

Next, we off to Bree Street. There’s an unofficial competition to determine the coolest street in Cape Town. It used to be all about Long Street with its bar and club scene. Then Kloof Street took over with concept stores, restaurants, and an ultra-trendy hairdresser.
Now, Bree Street has stormed its way to the top of the podium and crushed the competition with an old-school barber shop, a tapas bar and an eatery dedicated exclusively to cheese. In the Hipster Olympics that’s hard to beat.
If you’re looking to get a glimpse of Cape Town’s artisanal ecosystem at its finest then Bree Street is where it happens!

This busy road is one that every visitor to the Mother City will land up on at some point or another, and has an eclectic blend of great restaurants, unique shops, old historical buildings and various other landmarks.
