After pick-up, we will drive 1.5 hours to Pampaneira.

Stop At: Pampaneira, Pampaneira, Province of Granada, Andalucia
The first stop of our excursion will be Pampaneira. After driving for a little less than 1,5 hours, we will arrive to this beautiful small village located in the foothills of the south face of the Sierra Nevada. Strolling through its narrow streets with their unique architecture will make you feel like you are in a fairy tale. We will visit a handicraft store to see the famous “jarapas” made right there, carpets of all colors unique to the area. After the walking tour you will have some free time if you want to buy some local products, such as honey or wine.

In Capileria, the highest village we will visit (4,711 ft) we will continue to learn more about the history of this place. We will make a small hiking tour to see the famous “cortijos”, the typical country houses that, although less and less, are still used in La Alpujarra. From here we can enjoy the beauty of the valley and see the highest peaks of the Sierra Nevada.

Stop At: Bubion, Bubion, Province of Granada, Andalucia
Our second stop is Bubion, just 5 minutes driving from Pampaneira. In Bubion we will enter the “Casa Museo Alpujarreña”, a house converted into a museum to understand from the inside what life was like in the Alpujarra until very recently and how it still is for many of its neighbors. We will see how were the kitchens, bedrooms and day to day life. We will also walk through Bubión and talk about the Alpujarras War, a conflict between Moors and Christians crucial to understand the history of Spain.
