In the crown jewel of the city, Kandy is the famed Sri Dalada Maligawa, also known as the Temple of the Tooth. The golden-roofed Temple of the Sacred Tooth houses Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist relic – a tooth of the Buddha. The entire temple complex, from peaked tiled roofs to white walls with large airy windows, is built using classical Kandyan architecture.

Day 2: ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDENS | NUWARA ELIYA

The famous garden in which includes more than 4000 species of lovely flowers, herbs, tall trees and renowned for its collection of orchids is the Royal Botanical Gardens located in Peradeniya.

Stop At: Nuwara Eliya, Nuwara Eliya, Central Province
Get ready to traverse from the humid weather to a chilly surrounding in just a few hours. You will proceed to the hill station of Nuwara Eliya today. The “little England” of Sri Lanka, home to all the tea estates manufacturing the best-flavoured tea, an immense field of beautiful flowers and vegetables. In the evening, you’ll also be stopping at a tea factory to witness and discover more about the process of transforming the fresh tea leaves into delightful sips of tea.

Gregory Lake was created in 1873 by the British era Governor at the time, Sir William Gregory, supposedly for the purpose of providing electricity. However the lake was mainly used for leisure and recreation after it was built.

Horton Plains National Park is capped by mountainous grassland and cloud forests on Sri Lanka’s highest elevation over 2100m above sea level. This destination is a peculiar and peaceful region with an eye-popping diversity of landscape. Explore the thick grasslands and marshes, experience the feeling of washing your face from the natural chilly streams,
lakes and breathtaking waterfalls.
