Itinerary
Day 1: Airport – Kurunegala Coconut Plantation
Stop At: Kurunegala, Kurunegala, North Western Province
Arrival and transfer to organic coconut plantation to recover from long flight. Kurunegala is an ancient capital of Sri Lanka, and it is part of a historic coconut triangle on the island. The land here is fertile and receives regular rainfall throughout the year, making it a very rich soil for farming & cultivation.

Stop At: World’s tallest granite Samadhi Buddha statue in Kurunegala, Rideegama, Kurunegala 60000 Sri Lanka
The large white Buddha statue on top of the granite boulder is very impressive. This is an optional visit.

Day 2: Kurunegala – Digana Eco Lodge, via Kandy Temple
Stop At: Selyn, No 195 Colombo Road, Kurunegala 60000 Sri Lanka
In the morning, an optional visit to a fairtrade handloom weaving factory to learn about the traditional weaving practices in Sri Lanka.

Stop At: Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Sri Dalada Veediya, Kandy 20000 Sri Lanka
Visit the sacred temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy for an evening Theva ceremony (6:30PM). You can witness a blessing puja ceremony, offer lotus flowers, and experience the benevolence of this revered place. The temple is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists from around the world. Kandy is the last royal capital of Sri Lanka, and is a beautiful mountain town. The temple visit is optional (1,500 rupees per person).

Day 3: Village Hike with Local Eco-lodge Guide in Digana
Stop At: Digana, Digana, Kandy District, Central Province
You spend the day in Digana, a nature paradise located in a dense rainforest jungle nestled among the mountains. Your stay here is based with a unique eco-lodge overlooking the Victoria reservoir.
You go village trekking with a local eco-lodge guide. Experience the local life, meet the farmers, and witness the pristine beauty of Sri Lanka’s countryside. The trek is a mild walk and doesn’t require high physical fitness. The trek is included in the price of your tour.

Day 4: Digana – Wasgamuwa National Park Volunteer Camp
Stop At: Wasgamuwa National Park, Polonnaruwa Sri Lanka
Road to Wasgamuwa NP, known for being a densely populated natural zone. You check-in with your field house for afternoon nature conservation activities with a leading volunteer program. The national park is a natural protected zone and no contact with the animals is allowed.

Day 5: Wildlife Volunteer Program in Wasgamuwa
Stop At: Wasgamuwa National Park, Polonnaruwa Sri Lanka
You spend the day volunteering with a leading nature conservation society working to preserve rare species in Sri Lanka. Your day’s activities may be joined by other volunteers, this is a unique, shared nature field-experience. The national park is a natural protected zone and no contact with the animals is allowed.

Day 6: Wasgamuwa – Mahiyangana Lakeside Hotel, via Veddha Tribal Village
Stop At: Veddha Village, Dabana, Mahiyanganaya 90700 Sri Lanka
Visit to aboriginal tribal village where you can meet the local tribesmen. The Veddha are an early settlers of the island. They are known for their forest-dwelling lifestyle and are excellent huntsmen, fishermen and wild bee-honey cultivators. This visit is optional, you can purchase entrance tickets on-site at the museum (500 rupees).

Stop At: Mahiyangana, Mahiyangana, Uva Province
In the evening, visit the Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya temple. This important temple is believed to have been the first site in Sri Lanka hallowed by the Buddha himself. The legend says that the Buddha settled a dispute among the ruling tribes of those times, and in return was requested a flock of his hair to be preserved as relics at this very holy place. The temple entrance is free of charge, but a small donation is recommended.

Day 8: Three-Landscape Contemplative Trek near Ella
Stop At: Ella, Ella, Uva Province
Embrace the natural seeker in you on this meditative hike through three vastly different landscapes of the Southern mountain region. Your trekking local expert will begin with an invigorating vista of the “Big Three”: Ella Rock, Rawana Falls, Little Adam’s Peak. Take a pleasant Ceylon tea break and continue with a descend along a quieter region of “mist”-erious tea plantations. Upon reaching the jungle enjoy a refreshing “kumbuk” water stream and a well-deserved picnic in the paddy field. You may find yourself on an inspired journey of silent introspection. The trek is a slower-pace day-long expedition, but it is all downhill and well worth the effort. It is great for solo or companion seekers looking for a contemplative nature experience.

Day 9: Ella – Kahandamodara Eco-Wellness Retreat

Day 12: Galle Fort – road to the Airport
Stop At: Galle Fort, Church Street, Galle 80000 Sri Lanka
Visit this iconic and charming Galle fort. This colonial rampart dating back to the Dutch era is filled with fashionable eateries and boutique shops. Perfect occasion to do some last-minute shopping before your departure from the island. The fort walls offer a spectacular view of the sunset over the Indian Ocean.
