Itinerary

Day 1: Negombo/Colombo – Adam’s Peak

Stop At: Adam’s Peak (Sri pada), 22070 Sri Lanka
We will pick you at around 6 Pm and after you reach Rathnapura the acsend to the mountain will start at around 12 am so that you could be at the the top in time for the dawn which offers the best odds of seeing the extraordinary views free from cloud as well as a chance a glimpsing the peak’s enigmatic shadow. The steps along the mountain are illuminated with small stalls for the weary climbers to refresh themselves with a hot cup of tea or cater to their basic needs throughout the night. Although it is exciting the climb up the 5000 steps can be a bit exhausting. The upper slopes of the mountain are swathed in dense and largely undisturbed stands of cloud forest which are home to various species of colorful montane birdlife such as the Sri Lanka white-eye and Eurasian blackbird, the sight of which might offer some welcome distraction during the slog up or down.

Day 2: Adam’s Peak – Negombo/Colombo

Stop At: Adam’s Peak (Sri pada), 22070 Sri Lanka
The descent is a fair bit quicker than the ascent, although as every hiker knows, it’s the descent that tends to wreak the most havoc with your knees. The walk down was just as painful as the trek up to the top. But on the flip side, this time the light was out and the beautiful views from Adam’s Peak, Sri Lanka will make the trek a lot more pleasant! Pilgrims who have made the trip more than three times then ring one of the two bells at the summit, each chime representing a successful ascent. This journey will be a tough but once in a lifetime opportunity for anyone who takes this hike.
