What makes Bangkok Bike and Food Tour – Half Day a unique experience ?
While cars are great to get you to some of the more popular tourist spots, one of the best ways to discover Bangkok’s culture is by cycling through the city’s narrow streets and visiting some of the locals’ favorite haunts. We’ll bring you to temples, forts, markets, railways, churches, local neighborhoods, and even an art gallery – all in just half a day!
We’ll start the day early and meet at the bike rental shop where you’ll be outfitted with your bike and helmet and given a quick briefing. Once we’re all set, we’ll cycle to Phra Sumen Fort. This octagonal-shaped bunker was built by King Rama I as one of many defenses to protect the capital. We’ll take photos of the intriguing, white exterior before we head to the port.
From there, we’ll board a ferry and cross the Chao Phraya River before heading to the vibrant Wang Lang Market.
This 30-year-old institution is a prime foodie destination, especially among local university students and nearby citizens.
After exploring the market, we’ll head to Santa Cruz church, one of the oldest Catholic churches in Bangkok. It was built by the Portuguese in the late 1700s and retains its European design. We’ll marvel at the architecture of the building before cycling through the charming residential area of Thonburi.
Get to observe the daily lives of the locals as you pass through the small alleyways and streets.
Up next is the hidden gem of Talat Phlu. This local market is filled with heavenly food stalls with some of the best street food in the area.
This temple features a stunning (and Instagrammable!) green stupa and the city’s tallest Buddha statue.
After snapping photos of the temple, we’ll cycle along the Phasi Charoen canal before stopping at the Artist’s House. This centuries-old house turned art gallery features local artwork, photography exhibits, and even a puppet show!
We’ll stop for lunch at a delicious local restaurant where you’ll sample some scrumptious dishes, before heading to Wat Hong Rattanaram. This beautiful temple was built during the late Ayutthaya period and is known for its stunning and intricate exteriors and interiors. We’ll admire the architecture of the temple before taking the ferry and cycling back to the meeting point.
