Palm Springs Trip Overview
I provide water, a snack bar and a backpack for each hiker. We’ll be in the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument on the best hiking trails in Palm Springs California. I know these trails very well & the most scenic viewpoints along the way to enjoy some of the best views of Palm Springs & far beyond.
You’ll see desert plants & cacti close up and you’ll see from the desert valley floor all the way up to beautiful nearby mountain peaks, while getting in some great exercise. I’ll point out interesting landmarks along the way, like the very unique Mid Century Modern Bob Hope house, Mt Gorgonio (the tallest mtn in So Cal), Indian Canyons, Joshua Tree National Park & other points of interest. The endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep come down to the desert to give birth during the winter & I’ve already seen them here this season, hopefully you will too.

What to Expect When Visiting Palm Springs, California, United States

Itinerary

This is a loop hike & lasts approx 3 hours with time to stop to take pics & breaks. Hike on some of the best trails in Palm Springs on pristine desert trails. As we hike we’ll have amazing views of the desert below all the way up to the mountains that overlook Palm Springs.
We’ll stop & see the very unique Bob Hope house & once we reach the top of Smoke Tree Mountain (a hill at 1,522 ft. & the highest point) you grab a rock, make a wish & toss it onto the huge rock pile & enjoy beautiful 360 degree views, perfect for scenic photos.
We’ll see the windmills, Joshua Tree National Park, the San Jacinto Mtns, Mt San Gorgonio (the tallest mtn. in So Cal at 11,503 ft.), Palm Springs and other cities. We’ll also see Indian Canyons, ancestral home to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians that settled in the area 5000 years ago. Depending on the time of year hopefully we’ll see some endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep.
