While currently closed due to the pandemic, you’ll peak through the iron gateway to see the oldest building in the city – built by the French king – and home for centuries to cloistered nuns.

Just across the street is the Beauregard-Keyes House, one of the best preserved examples of 1800s architecture in the city.

While it is unlikely that pirates actually hung out beside the cathedral and city hall, this street does have quite the history of intrigue and scandal, from Andrew Jackson to William Faulkner.
