Itinerary

Day 1: Day 1: Hanoi – Thai Nguyen – Ba Be lake (L, D)

Stop At: Ba Be National Park, Bo Lu Village Ba Be district, Nam Mau 270000 Vietnam
At 08:00 am your guide will collect you and head for Ba Be National Park. On the way, you will visit the Thai Nguyen Museum which will give you a good overview of the cultures and customs of the different ethnic minorities in Vietnam. We continue driving, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant in Bac Kan where you may try some local dishes. Upon arrival at Bo Lu Village, on the banks of Ba Be lake, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset and have a delicious dinner and stay overnight at Homestay.

Day 2: Trekking in National Park (B, L, D)

Stop At: Ba Be National Park, Bo Lu Village Ba Be district, Nam Mau 270000 Vietnam
After a good breakfast at the homestay, you will set off on foot to Coc Toc where you can meet some of the local Tay community who make a living from cultivating rice and corn on their farms and fishing in the lake. You will then hike uphill to take in amazing views across the park. Further on in the uplands, you will reach the village of Nam Dai, home of the Cash Dao people, where we will have a picnic lunch and take a short break. In the afternoon, we will continue trekking through the forest through mountains and valleys where you will see beautiful wooden stilt houses which have been skillfully crafted by the local people. After a fantastic day of trekking, you will have dinner and spend the night in a homestay with a local family.

Day 3: Ba Be lake (B, L, D)

Stop At: Ba Be National Park, Bo Lu Village Ba Be district, Nam Mau 270000 Vietnam
This morning’s walk will take you through the lush forest, home to many species of flora and fauna, to the shores of Ba Be Lake. On the way, you will pass through Nam Dai Village. After lunch, you will take to the water first on a boat and then in kayaks to discover an amazing cave. The kayaks will be loaded onto a boat which will take you along the Nang River to the massive tunnel of Puong Cave with its stalagmites and stalactites and thousands of bats. After exploring the cave, you will take the kayaks to explore the lake and get up close to the dramatic karst. If you like, you can also jump into the refreshing waters to cool off. You will kayak towards Bo Lu Village for dinner and an overnight stay in a homestay.

Day 4: Ba Be lake – Hanoi (B, L)

After breakfast at the homestay, it is time to check out and say goodbye to Ba Be. On the drive back to Hanoi, you will pay a visit to Hua Ma Cave. It is one of the least touristy caves and only recently accessible as few locals would enter due to their ancient beliefs. Inside there are thousands of stalactites and stalagmites which create an otherworldly beauty. You can rest your legs on the drive back to Hanoi, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. You will be ped off at your hotel in the late afternoon.
