Itinerary

Day 1: HA GIANG CITY – HEAVEN GATE – LUNG TAM VILLAGE – YEN MINH – DONG VAN TOWN

Stop At: Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, Sa Phin, Ha Giang 310000 Vietnam
During your first day of the tour to Ha Giang you will see a big change in the scenery when you drive into the mountains before the town of Tam Son. This is the first glimpse of what will lie ahead for the rest of your tour.

+ Visit Dong Van Karst Plateau:

The tour takes you through the Karst Geopark. The Dong Van Karst Plateau is a major geo-heritage sight in Vietnam.
Dong Van Karst Plateau is located in the northernmost part of Vietnam, where there are many beautiful natural landscapes with rugged and majestic rocky mountains. In 2010, the UNESCO Global Geopark Network Consulting Council recognized Dong Van Karst Plateau as a Global Geopark.
Located at an average elevation of 1,000 – 1,600m above sea level, Dong Van Karst Plateau stretches an area of nearly 2.356km² in 4 districts of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Meo Vac and Dong Van. Dong Van has up to 80% of limestone outcrops, which are made up of very different environmental conditions and development stages that last for hundreds of millions of years and contain traces of the earth’s history of development.
You will see a lot of rice fields, thousands of limestone rocks and magnificent views. People will be working on the land and you will get a taste of rural north Vietnamese countryside life.
The driver can also take you to the Chinese border and the famous northernmost viewpoint in Vietnam. Before driving to the town of Dong Van, you will make a stop at the residence of the Vuong family, which is still called “Palace of Hmong King”.

+ Visit the Palace of Hmong King:

The 100-year-old Hmong King Palace simulates the citadel of the Chinese Qing Dynasty, incorporates Hmong designs and selects French architecture. This is the most unique architecture of Ha Giang province, ranked by the State as an art architectural monument at the national level. The Palace has 3 halls: front, middle and back, with 64 rooms, large and small, accommodating about 100 people.
Hmong King hired many skilled Chinese and Mongol workers and thousands of workers to build the mansion for nearly 10 years. The project cost about 150,000 silver coins (equivalent to 150 billion Vietnamese dong at that time).
The trip will then continue to Dong Van town. Here you can walk around the town, enjoy dinner and relax.

Day 2: DONG VAN TOWN – MA PI LENG PASS – MEO VAC – YEN MINH – HA GIANG CITY

Stop At: Ma Pi Leng Pass, Meo Vac, Ha Giang 310000 Vietnam
On this day you will also stop at the famous Ma Pi Leng pass where you can see the Nho Que river underneath. This pass is well known; most tourists call this the most beautiful part of the loop. Just after the pass you will take another road back to Yen Minh. This road takes you through equally beautiful landscapes as the first day.

+ Visit Ma Pi Leng Pass:
Ma Pi Leng means “horse nose” in the language of the Hmong people. Ma Pi Leng pass is located at an altitude of 1,200 m, 20 km long, lying on the side of the mountain with Nho Que river winding around creating a wonderful natural picture.
The mountain pass has been tens of thousands of young volunteers from 16 ethnic groups in 8 northern provinces for 6 years (1959-1965) with over 2 million working days. In particular, the pass section of Ma Pi Leng pass was made by young men in the suicide squad hanging on the cliffs every centimeter for 11 months.
Ma Pi Leng is recognized as a national monument. In particular, Ma Pi Leng pass is considered a unique geological and landscape heritage area. The top of the pass is considered to be one of the most beautiful panoramic views in Vietnam.

Stop At: Nho Que River, Dong Van 310000 Vietnam
+ Visit Nho Que River:
Nho Que River flows about 46 km on Vietnamese soil, through the jagged cat-ear layer of the Dong Van Plateau Global Geopark system.
The water of Nho Que River has green color, the water is clear, reflecting the silhouettes of the mountains, creating an incredible green landscape. This is a must-see attraction for tourists coming to Ha Giang. Tourists can sit on the canoe to admire the scenery, take pictures of the majestic mountains on both sides of the river, or can enjoy kayaking for the most relaxing moments in the trip.
From Yen Minh the route takes you back to Ha Giang City. During the tour you will see the different cultures and hill tribes such as the H’mong tribe living in the Ha Giang province. Their beautiful clothes are easily recognizable. You will be impressed along the way by all aspects of the trip, the stunning views, fascinating country life and beautiful cultures.
